Sansaku Sekiguchi 関口三作 Title: Okame おかめ / 阿亀 Sosaku Kokeshi with Doll Box A1208

A distinctive vintage Sosaku Kokeshi titled “Okame” by renowned Japanese artist Sansaku Sekiguchi (1925–2018). The rounded figure depicts the traditional Okame/Otafuku beauty with softly smiling features, black hair, rosy cheeks, and richly painted ceremonial costume accented with reflective mirror-like medallions. Handcrafted from wood and accompanied by its original signed box, artist card, and paper documentation. Sekiguchi’s workshop identifies this design as “Okame”; the small version measures 16 cm high × 11 cm wide and was made from Cornaceae wood.
