Vintage Issetsu Kuribayashi 栗林一雪 Four Seasons Creative Kokeshi Doll 4/Set A1205

Set of four vintage Japanese Sosaku Creative Kokeshi by renowned artist Issetsu Kuribayashi (栗林一雪, 1924–2011), depicting the Four Seasons. Each doll has a beautifully rounded head with an expressive hand-painted face and a different seasonal motif: cherry blossoms for spring, dragonflies for summer, autumn leaves, and a scarf for winter. One doll bears Kuribayashi’s artist seal on the base.

Kuribayashi was an important postwar Creative Kokeshi artist and is recognized for his understated forms and expressive painted decoration. Comparable 4.9" Four Seasons sets by him are documented by specialist Kokeshi dealers.

Size: Approx. 5" H x 2 1/8" W x 2 1/4" D each

Condition: Very good vintage condition with light age-related surface wear and patina. No major cracks or damage noted. No original box.
