This substantial solid-wood figure features a serene recessed face framed by a flowing hood-like form, with carved floral motifs across the body and beautiful natural wood grain throughout. The back bears the artist’s signature and seal, while the recessed base is inscribed with the title 夢路, Yumeji, translated as “Path of Dreams.” A striking and sculptural example of mid-century Japanese creative kokeshi.
