Antique French Majolica Oyster Plate Green Basketweave 9.5" Mint A1188

Beautiful antique French majolica oyster plate featuring six deeply molded creamy-white scallop shell wells arranged around a raised central sauce well. The rich green basketweave ground is accented with a warm brown rope-style border around the center and rim. The strongly molded shell details and classic green-and-white palette create a striking dimensional presentation. This design is closely associated with late-19th-century French Longchamp oyster ware; however, this example is unmarked, so no specific maker is attributed. Two matching plates are available. Comparable Longchamp examples with this green basketweave and six-white-shell configuration are identified circa 1890.
