Antique German Oyster Plate, 5 Wells Plus 1 for Lemon. White Porcelain, Gold Trim, Scallop Edge, Purple Brown Shell Highlights. 8 3/8” 19th c

A wonderful plate to add to your collection. Maybe a southern home that would not be complete without a set to use or display on the dining room wall…or…just a connoisseur of those delicious Milk of the Sea. 
The five outer wells a not exact in shape or size, but similar ovals that are about 2 1/4” wide and about 3 1/4” long. The outside edge and center oyster “design” are raised and highlighted with a purple brown powdered glaze. The center well is about 2 1/8” in diameter. It has a scalloped and sculpted edge that is lined with gold. The background of the plate is white porcelain. The plate is 8 3/8” in diameter, the foot of the plate is 5 1/4” in diameter, and the outer edge is 1 1/4” high. It is in very good antique condition, and it is in perfect condition except a flea bite chip at the back of the foot (see photo).
