Antique German Registrirt 5-Well Oyster Plate Blue Purple Ribbon A1266

Striking late-19th-century German porcelain oyster plate with five deeply molded oyster wells, two additional shell-form wells, and a soft blue-violet ground decorated with flowing purple ribbon motifs. The shells are picked out in cream, brown, pink, and gilt accents, giving the plate unusually lively color. The reverse is marked “Patent,” impressed “REGISTRIRT,” and hand-numbered 0714. Comparable Registrirt oyster plates are generally identified as German and date to the late 1800s, often around the 1880s.
