Description
An exquisite Japanese Satsuma porcelain oyster plate from the Meiji period, circa 1890–1910, richly decorated for export to the European market. The plate features eight wells radiating from a central floral motif, each well lavishly hand-painted with delicate roses, bold pink florals, bright turquoise accents, and fine raised gold enamel over deep cobalt blue.
The scalloped rim and intricate ornamental detailing reflect high-quality Satsuma artistry at its peak. Measuring 8 inches in diameter, the plate presents beautifully with strong gilding and no cracks, chips, or repairs observed. A rare and luxurious collector’s piece with vibrant color and exceptional workmanship.
