Description

An early 19th century Staffordshire pearlware spill vase group depicting three sheep gathered around a naturalistic tree-form trunk. The composition features hand-painted decoration with iron-red patches on the sheep, a softly mottled green and ochre tree, and applied floral elements across the base. Multiple branch openings form the spill vase structure, typical of the period, intended for holding tapers or decorative stems. The modeling shows the characteristic naïve charm of Staffordshire pearlware, with textured surfaces and expressive animal forms consistent with circa 1820 production.
