Antique sterling 925 octagon pill trinket box 1.5 x 1.25" 13.2g SS110

Antique octagonal snuff or trinket box made with sterling silver 925 with resin top. This type of box is popular in the 18th and 19th centuries and was used to hold a day's supply of snuff, a ground tobacco mixture. 
The main panels on the top and sides are white resin, set within a metal frame. The metal frame features engraved or embossed decoration. It has an octagonal shape with a hinged lid, a common form for these types of small boxes.
While often called snuff boxes, they were also used to store small trinkets, pills, or other small items.
