Description
This antique Union Porcelain Works oyster plate displays a warm ivory ground with softly blushed oyster wells, highlighted by raised gilt accents and hand-painted marine motifs. The surface features flowing organic branches in warm golden tones, detailed shells, coral forms, and delicate sea creatures rendered with fine brushwork and dimensional glazing.
Unlike cooler-toned examples, this plate leans toward a warm ivory, champagne, and honey-gold palette, with soft blush interiors and subtle smoky gray shading at the oyster centers. The sculptural relief and luminous glaze create depth and movement, making this a striking decorative or collection piece.
Marked on the underside with UPW and PAT. JAN. 4, 1881, confirming its late 19th-century American origin. A beautiful example of Union Porcelain Works craftsmanship, ideal for collectors of oyster plates, Gilded Age tableware, or decorative antiques.
Size: 8 5/8" x 6 5/8"
Condition: Very good antique condition with light age-appropriate wear; no cracks or repairs observed.
