Description
Refined antique porcelain oyster plate from Weimar, Germany, featuring six shell-form wells surrounding a raised central sauce well. The plate is decorated with delicate hand-painted wildflower sprays and soft pink shell-tinted borders finished with a fine gilt rim. The molded shell pattern and naturalistic botanical painting reflect the elegant tableware style popular in Europe during the late Victorian to Edwardian period, when specialized oyster plates became fashionable for formal dining. The underside bears the Weimar Germany shield hallmark. The pastel tones, light relief molding, and restrained floral decoration create a graceful presentation typical of fine German porcelain produced around the turn of the 20th century.
