Description

This antique oyster plate was produced by Charles Field Haviland of Limoges, France, and dates to the late 19th century, circa 1890–1900. The plate features six softly molded oyster wells decorated with hand-applied pink floral sprays and delicate green foliage, arranged with balanced restraint against a luminous white porcelain ground. A gently scalloped rim finished in warm gilt frames the form, enhancing its elegant presentation without overpowering the design. The flowing contours and refined decoration reflect the transitional aesthetic of the Belle Époque period, when Limoges porcelain emphasized both functionality and artistic grace. A classic example of French oyster service ware, well suited for collectors of Haviland or antique French tableware.
