Description
The last decade of the 19th-century brought symbolism and spiritualism into every area of life as people contemplated the new century and what it might bring. Moons, stars, comets, and other heavenly phenomena were popular motifs in clothing and jewelry. A gentle arc of alternating pearls and sapphires graces this slender crescent moon brooch. The cultured seed pearl are post set in graduated size and the dreamy Amethyst are prong set, adding interesting texture to the 14k yellow gold piece. The moon's horns are brightly polished. The brooch fastens with a long pin and security clasp. The pears ranged from 2.5 to 3.6mm, Amethyst ranged from 2.omm to 4.5mm. Circa 1910.
Details.....The crescent measures 2.5" long and is 5/8 at its widest point. In Very Good Antique Condition. You should always expect some wear on antique and vintage jewels; we consider it part of their charm.
