Signed c1920 Hand carved Resin Japanese Netsuke Thunder gold (raiden) A589

This hand-carved Netsuke, circa aparpox. 1920-1939. It appears to be an oni (demon) or possibly a depiction of the thunder god, Raiden, given the intense expression. The figure is intricately carved, characteristic of the detailed craftsmanship found in netsuke, which often depict comical human figures, animals, and mythological beings. It measures 1 7/8" x 7/8" x 1 5/8", 29.0 grams, signed on the base.
