Description

This vintage Japanese bronze incense burner features a traditional tripod design with a rounded body and three tapered legs. The lid is topped with a stylized shishi in detailed carving (guardian lion dog), a symbol of protection in Japanese art. Flanking the sides are mask-like animal heads, like a dragon, adding visual interest and cultural depth.

The base is marked with Asian calligraphy, indicating it was likely made in the mid-20th century, possibly for export during the post-WWII era or early Showa period. The vented lid allows incense smoke to rise gently, making it ideal for ceremonial or decorative use. Unlike newer reproductions, this piece retains its original bronze patina and mid-20th-century mark, confirming its vintage authenticity.

Size: 6.0" x 5 1/4" x 4.5"
Condition: very good with signs of wear, no dents, or repairs.
