Vintage magnifying glass with sterling silver handle by Frank Cobb, Sheffield. The handle has a raised floral shell/repoussé terminal, tapered sterling handle, ribbed collar, and oval glass lens. The lens rim/frame is not sterling, only the handle is sterling. Hallmarks show lion passant for sterling, crown for Sheffield, and Frank Cobb maker’s mark. Frank Cobb was a Sheffield silversmith firm founded in 1903, with “FC” maker’s mark registered at Sheffield; comparable Frank Cobb sterling handled magnifying glasses are commonly dated in the 1930s range depending on the date letter.
