Vintage Sadao Kishi 岸貞夫 "Spirit of Wheat" Sosaku Kokeshi Doll Signed 8.75" A1200

Vintage Japanese Sōsaku Kokeshi by renowned artist Sadao Kishi (1932–1998), from his celebrated “Seishin Komugi no / Spirit of Wheat” design. The elegantly turned natural wood figure features Kishi’s characteristic serene downcast eyes, tiny red mouth, traditional topknot hairstyle, black floral obi, and three hand-rendered golden wheat stalks decorating the lower body. The base bears the artist’s red seal. A beautifully preserved example of an important mid-century Japanese creative Kokeshi design.
