Vintage Yuji Kawase Sosaku Kokeshi Doll Black Okappa Green Kimono Signed A1187

This beautifully stylized figure features Kawase’s distinctive oversized rounded black okappa hairstyle framing a small, serene face with delicately closed eyes and a tiny red mouth.

The deep olive-green kimono is decorated with finely incised radiating chrysanthemum-like motifs in muted gold, accented by a narrow obi and subtle red collar. The dramatic contrast between the massive dark coiffure and compact cylindrical body gives the doll a strong sculptural Mid-Century presence characteristic of Kawase’s creative kokeshi work.
